HENDERSON (FOX5) — One of Southern Nevada’s premier cultural celebrations is making its return this fall.

The 17th Annual Aki Matsuri Japanese Festival heads to Water Street Plaza in Henderson on Saturday, October 10 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The free, family-friendly event offers an immersive showcase of Japanese culture, featuring multi-stage live entertainment, authentic cuisine, sake tasting, traditional and contemporary dance, and hands-on cultural crafts.

Guests can also enjoy:

  • Odaiko (big drum) performances 
  • Special Taiko Taikai performances
  • Live entertainment with singers, dancers and traditional attire
  • Authentic Japanese food and goods
  • Kids activities
  • Sake tasting and seminar

Organizers say last year’s event drew more than 17,000 visitors, with the festival holding the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for its dedication to fostering friendship and cultural exchange between Japan and the United States.
