LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An 11-year-old Las Vegas standout is up for National Youth Athlete of the Year.
Charlotte is a starting catcher and utility player for elite travel softball team Athletics Mercado. Her most common secondary positions are third base and outfield.
Charlotte started in baseball at 3.5 years old, playing t-ball through the minors with boys, and played her first club season on a baseball team as the only girl.

She also plays flag football and basketball.
Charlotte is an A and B student, and her family says she’s a leader on and off the field.
Charlotte is now in the top 10 nationwide for the award, which carries a grand prize of $25,000. Her family says the money would help with her college fund or tuition at Bishop Gorman.
