LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Former Vegas Golden Knights fan favorite Ryan Reaves is officially hanging up his skates.
The veteran forward announced his retirement on social media Wednesday following a bruising 16-season NHL career.
In a heartfelt post, the Winnipeg native acknowledged the game’s physical toll, writing, “Father Time remains undefeated. Every hit, every fight—it’s taken its final toll on me.”
He also thanked fans across the league, quipping that opponents “can rest easy knowing the corners are a little safer today.”

The Golden Knights acquired Reaves from the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2018, and he remained in Vegas until a 2021 trade sent him to the New York Rangers.
He later had stints with the Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, and, most recently, the San Jose Sharks.
Known to fans as “Reavo,” the hard-hitting enforcer recorded 66 goals, 74 assists, and 1,137 penalty minutes over 962 career games.
