LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer has been sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to misconduct committed while on duty, according to Clark County court records.
Manuel Matagolai Ramangmou pleaded guilty to oppression under color of office, a gross misdemeanor, stemming from an incident that occurred May 9, 2026.

As part of the negotiated guilty plea agreement, Ramangmou agreed to resign immediately from LVMPD. In exchange, prosecutors agreed not to pursue additional criminal charges uncovered on his phone during the investigation.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, Ramangmou used his position as a uniformed officer to re-initiate contact with an individual after clearing an initial police call.
Investigators alleged Ramangmou deactivated his body-worn camera before approaching the individual, complimented their appearance, and asked for a hug. He then directed the person to a concealed area out of view of nearby surveillance cameras, where he hugged them and touched, rubbed, fondled, or grabbed their buttocks.
Court documents further state Ramangmou searched the victim’s vehicle and used his authority to make them believe they were legally detained and not free to leave.
During sentencing, a District Court judge ordered Ramangmou to serve 30 days of flat time in the Clark County Detention Center, with credit for one day already served.
