BOULDER CITY (FOX5) — Hundreds of community members, local leaders, and train enthusiasts gathered Saturday morning to celebrate the grand opening of the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s new $25 million Visitor Center.
The ribbon-cutting celebrated both the museum’s 35th anniversary and the state’s first new museum opening in 20 years.
Funded by a Conserve Nevada bond through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the project delivers the first dedicated visitor center in the museum’s history.

The 9,000-square-foot facility features roughly 3,800 square feet of gallery space spotlighting Nevada’s rail history and technology. Amenities include interactive exhibits, a projection-mapping theater, research archives, educational space, a gift shop, and a shaded platform servicing weekend passenger excursions.
Some of the speakers in attendance at the ceremony included Nevada Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony, U.S. Rep. Dina Titus, state museum administrator Dan Thielen, and museum director Christopher MacMahon, Ph.D.
The Nevada State Railroad Museum is locate at 1000 Boulder City Parkway, near Buchanan Boulevard in Boulder City.
