LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Clark County School District bus driver has been removed from their route after a video showed them confronting students on a school bus last Thursday, according to parents and the district.
Amanda Fravel, a parent, said her seventh-grade daughter called her from the school bus during the ride home last Thursday.
“That Thursday, we had gotten frantic calls from our children stating that they were going to be dropped off and needed to find rides home,” Fravel said.

Fravel said her daughter told her the bus driver threatened to pull over and leave the students stranded. Her daughter then sent her a video of the bus pulled over on the side of the road.
In the video, the driver can be heard saying, “Get over here and sit down, and you’re going to sit down perfectly in the front. I am not kidding you! Get over here now!”
“I was shaken up. I was stressed out. I didn’t know what to do,” Fravel said.
Bus returned to school before completing route
Fravel said she began following her daughter’s location and saw that the driver turned the bus around and took the children back to the school. She said the bus later returned to its normal route and dropped the children off at their stops.
“I was able to actually speak with the bus driver and ask her why she thought her actions were appropriate. And she stated that it was too loud and that she didn’t feel comfortable driving the bus. And to me, that’s a red flag,” Fravel said.
According to the Clark County School District Code of Conduct, bus drivers should work to encourage appropriate behavior on school buses. The code states: “If needed, drivers may safely pull to the side of the road to address behaviors that may create distractions.”
Other parents raise concerns
Other parents said they share Fravel’s concerns and are disappointed by the district’s response.
“I’m scared of the safety of, not only my child, but of all the kids,” said parent Tanya Shepard.
“I reached out. They said that they were going to reach out from anywhere from 24 to 48 hours… and no reply. They never got in contact. They didn’t care,” Shepard said.
District confirms driver removed
The district confirmed the driver has been removed from the bus route.
“We’ve had another driver since Friday without incident. So that leads me to believe that it’s not a student problem… that it is a staff problem,” a district representative said.
Parents said they want the district to ensure the incident does not happen again.
“I just want to know what they’re going to do to keep our students safe,” Fravel said.
The district said it is continuing to investigate the incident.
