Organizers say the permanent memorial is designed to be a space to honor the victims, survivors, and families impacted by the 1 October shooting. Taking place the day after the ninth annual remembrance, the special ceremony will bring together survivors, victims’ families, community leaders, and project partners.

Organizers add that the memorial is slated to be completed ahead of the 10th anniversary in 2027.
The ceremony takes place starting at 4 p.m. with a community celebration to follow.
