LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Sunrise Trauma treated 83 patients for e-bike and e-scooter injuries in September, nearly 30% above the monthly average of about 65.

Hospital officials say it was the highest number of such injuries recorded in a single month in 2026, with the broader count reaching 609 patients. Of those, 190 were children.

Among all patients, 115 suffered traumatic brain injuries and 263 sustained fractures. Just 104 reported wearing helmets. Five adults died, the hospital says.

Among pediatric patients, 71% reportedly lost control because of factors such as speed, road conditions or attempts to avoid traffic. Some of the reported speeds reached as high as 75 mph, according to officials.
