LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The former assistant principal of Del Webb High School accused of having inappropriate conversations with a student is currently being held in a Texas jail on a $100,000 bond, according to jail records.
During a March investigation by Clark County School District police, evidence and recorded audio detailed the disturbing interactions between Howard Hughes, 61, and a student attending the high school.
The recordings observed Hughes making inappropriate comments, including “I wish you were an adult already,” a warrant obtained by FOX5 indicates.
Hughes is seen in a mugshot after being arrested in Texas back on March 22.
The former CCSD assistant principal resigned from his position before fleeing to Texas. A ping request was sent to his service provider which returned with data out of Dallas, investigators say.
Hughes faces six charges:
- (3) counts of contact or attempt to contact a minor by a person of authority for purposes of sex
- (3) counts of unlawful contact with a child
No word on when Hughes will be extradited to Clark County.
