LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Police say a fight ended with a deadly shooting Wednesday night in northeast Las Vegas.
Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of East Owens Avenue, near Nellis Boulevard. Lt. Robert Price said police received a ShotSpotter notification and a call saying someone was shot.
Police from the Northeast Area Command responded and found a man, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot. Police immediately provided aid until medical personnel arrived.
Medical personnel transported the victim to UMC, where he later died, Price said. Homicide detectives responded.
Price provided early details from the investigation. Police said the victim was walking outside of a business, while the suspect was talking toward it.
Price said the suspect and the victim started fighting. At some point, he said the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim.
Price said the suspect got into a car and fled the scene. As of the time the briefing was provided, police do not have a description of the suspect other than that he’s a man.
Price also said detectives believe the victim was a patron and not an employee of the nearby business.
This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
