LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Police say a driver currently in critical condition is facing reckless driving charges after a wrong-way crash Thursday afternoon.
Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the crash happened before 11:30 a.m. at Sahara Avenue and Tenaya Way, near Rainbow Boulevard. Police said a 58-year-old woman, identified as Corazon Blackwell, faces reckless driving-related charges.
According to evidence, police say Blackwell sped the wrong way in the westbound lanes of Sahara Avenue. In the same lanes, a 2025 BMW IX, with a 39-year-old driver, drove westbound on Sahara in the center lane.

Police say a crash happened when Blackwell veered right and struck the front of the BMW, causing major damage to both cars.
Police say the crash threw debris across the roadway. Two cars behind the BMW were hit by it, but police say the drivers did not suffer any injuries.
The debris also flew into a nearby auto dealership, damaging five parked vehicles on the lot, police say.
Police say medical personnel transported both drivers of the Honda and BMW to UMC’s Trauma Center, where they remain in critical condition.
Detectives launched an impaired driving investigation into Blackwell, who was booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center on reckless driving-related charges.
The crash remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
