LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man was killed, and a woman was injured in a crash in North Las Vegas, according to police.

Officials with the North Las Vegas Police Department said the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard North and Carey Avenue.

Police say arriving officers found a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2011 Jeep that had collided head-on. The driver of the Camaro, identified only as a man in his 30s, died at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, a woman in her 40s, suffered injuries and was rushed to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center in critical condition. Police said she was later listed in “stable” condition.

Preliminary investigation findings indicate the Camaro was heading northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard North at a high rate of speed when it drove into an area with an established roadway closure and directional traffic control devices.

Investigators said the Camaro traveled left of the designated traffic pattern, crossed into the opposing lane, and hit the southbound Jeep head-on.

Investigators noted the driver of the Jeep was unable to avoid the collision.
