LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — If you want to check out some crazy Halloween decorations, you have to visit Paradise Crest.

The East Las Vegas neighborhood is home to two neighbors, Chuck Cushinery and Chris Mckimmey, who have turned Halloween into a friendly competition for the best and scariest display.

Cushinery showed off his setup, a yard with multiple themes including Ghost Alley and Spider Street, complete with a Darth Fiddler figure and a house band of skeletons. He said Halloween in Paradise Crest draws tons of trick-or-treaters,

“Last year we gave out over 3,000 pieces of candy.”

Chris said Chuck moved in shortly after he did, about five years ago, sparking the rivalry. He noted that Chuck is slowly catching up every time he gets a new elaborate piece.

Beyond the decorations, both say it’s about building community.

“We always talk to each other, and we’ll text each other, stay in touch with each other and just generally help people out and try to make it a nice neighborhood for everybody,” Chris said.

“It’s being good citizens. This is what a good citizen relationship looks like,” Chuck added. “I want to know my neighbors. I want to live in a place where my neighbors know me.”
