LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — More than 500 youth soccer teams from across the United States and abroad will take over local sports fields this weekend for the 26th annual Las Vegas Mayor’s Cup International Soccer Tournament.

Co-hosted by the city of Las Vegas and the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club, the tournament features 528 boys and girls teams ranging in age from 8 to 15. The field includes 12 international squads traveling from Canada, Colombia, Mexico and Sweden, alongside teams representing 11 U.S. states.

Admission for spectators is free throughout the weekend.

The event, created in 2000 under then-Mayor Oscar B. Goodman to foster youth athletics, has evolved into one of the country’s most prominent international youth competitions.
