According to an officer’s summary of the video, Morris was seated on the driver’s side of the bus, two seats from the rear, and appeared to be sleeping or unaware of her surroundings.

The child appeared to remove himself from his restraints and crawled under the seats toward the back of the bus.

The child was seen on video sitting behind the last passenger-side seat for several minutes while the bus was on the freeway, at speeds above 67 mph, the officer wrote.

He then appeared to move directly behind Morris’s seat, where he sat for several minutes. Morris appeared to remain asleep or unaware of the child.

The child later went to the rear door and stood there, according to the report, as the bus slowed at the intersection of Tenaya Way and Alexander Road. The child opened the door, the alarm sounded, the bus accelerated to 11 mph and the child fell out, the report states.

Morris appeared unaware of what was happening inside the bus for about 19 minutes until the alarm sounded and the child fell out, according to officers. She was then seen on video getting up, realizing the child had fallen and going out the rear door to get him.

Officers met with Morris on Oct. 20 at a bus yard in Henderson, according to the declaration, where she was read her Miranda rights and signed a waiver to speak with police.

When asked whether she was asleep the day the child fell out of the rear emergency door, Morris said no but added that she suffers from motion sickness.

The officer told Morris the child had moved freely about the bus for more than 19 minutes and asked why she did not see he was out of his seat. Morris said, “he moves really fast,” according to the report.

Asked whether the child had gotten out of his harness on the bus in the past, Morris said, “all the time”. The officer wrote that Morris had no answer when asked why she was not aware of what was happening inside the bus.

Morris was then taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

She is due back in court for her preliminary hearing on February 8, 2027.
