LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Several motorists were stranded Friday afternoon after attempting to navigate flooded roadways in East Las Vegas following a heavy downpour.
At least five vehicles became disabled in deep storm water near the intersection of North Marion Drive and East Stewart Avenue. Passersby and neighboring residents quickly stepped in to assist stranded drivers, using tow straps and physically pushing waterlogged cars to safety.
One longtime resident said drivers were doing “stupid human tricks,” by driving through the water and getting stuck.
Area resident Oliver Martinez captured video showing both directions of Stewart Avenue completely inundated shortly after the intense storm moved through the east valley.
Emergency responders, including a fire engine and an ambulance, arrived at the intersection during the flooding. Authorities have not confirmed whether responders performed formal water rescues, and no injuries were immediately reported.
