String of late-night burglaries across Fresno districts

Investigators with the Northeast District first noticed an uptick in late-night home burglaries during July and August, with suspects primarily targeting cash and jewelry. Similar incidents were reported in the Northwest Policing District on Oct. 3.

Around that time, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified Packard as a suspect in a separate burglary within its jurisdiction.

On Oct. 17, another burglary occurred in Fresno’s Northeast District, where several thousand dollars’ worth of unique jewelry and collectible coins were stolen. Detectives collaborating across districts determined Packard was responsible for the break-ins in both policing areas.

Arrest and recovery of stolen property

Detectives recovered multiple pieces of gold jewelry on Packard at the time of his arrest, including a distinctive gold necklace that had recently been reported stolen.

A subsequent search warrant executed in connection with Packard yielded a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer handgun, additional gold jewelry, coins, paperwork, and jewelry bags.

Police have linked Packard to eight burglaries in the Northeast Policing District and four in the Northwest Policing District. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail.
