LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Athletics have officially named Cam Castro as their new general manager, the club announced on Wednesday morning.
Castro, 36, joins the front office alongside recently appointed President of Baseball Operations Taylor Smith.
He arrives from the reigning World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers, where he spent the past two seasons as senior vice president of player development and performance after joining that organization in 2019 as a minor league pitching coach, according to the MLB.

Castro previously served as a throwing trainer at Driveline Baseball in 2016 and steadily climbed Milwaukee’s player development ranks, the MLB reports. That pitching background is expected to play a central role in rebuilding an Athletics staff coming off a 64-98 season.
The hire marks a defining leadership transition for the franchise as it prepares for its final season at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento before moving to a new ballpark in Las Vegas, scheduled to open by Opening Day 2028.
