LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – For a couple months, the Neon Museum introduced a way for people to document their personal Las Vegas history. It’s a booth called RACHEL, which stands for Record and Collect Historical Experiences in Las Vegas.
“A booth that allows visitors, locals, transplants, international visitors to come through and have a moment to come and tell their story,” Neon Museum Executive Director Aaron Berger told FOX5. “It is a great opportunity to really capture a cross-section of people.”
Upon stepping into the booth, RACHEL will give prompts, asking about things like a favorite memory in Las Vegas. It gives the user a while to answer into the booth’s microphone.
“The story is then uploaded into the museum’s archives,” Berger explained.
Lately, the prompts have been specific to the Tropicana, asking people what the hotel means to them. Some of the responses gathered by RACHEL are shared to social media by the museum, and others are incorporated into future tours.
“We give you a tour, we give you insight into Las Vegas history, but for many of us, we have our own stories,” Berger said. “This is a way for the museum to start collecting those unique stories that are so special in Las Vegas.”
