LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Caitlin Clark was the big name at the top of the 2024 WNBA Draft, but the back-to-back champion Las Vegas Aces looked to bolster their roster with a quartet of later selections.
With the 16th pick, the Aces drafted Dyaisha Fair, a fifth-year senior guard from Syracuse. The Rochester, NY native played three seasons for Buffalo before transferring for the final two years of her career. She was a third-team AP All-American this year as she averaged 22.3 PPG.
Two picks later, the champs tabbed Kate Martin, a guard from Iowa. She played five seasons for the Hawkeyes, averaging 13.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a senior. She was second-team All-Big 10 in 2024 and played in four straight NCAA tournaments, including reaching the championship game the last two seasons.
With the 24th pick, Las Vegas selected center Elizabeth Kitley from Virginia Tech. She capped her five-year career as the ACC’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder before missing the end of the season with a torn ACL. The 6′6″ All-American was a three-time conference Player of the Year for the Hokies.
With the final pick of the 2024 draft, the Aces targeted the frontcourt again, drafting Jackson State’s Angel Jackson with pick #36. The 6′6″ center played three seasons at USC before transferring for her final two campaigns. She was a two-time SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, blocking 171 shots in 64 games.
The Aces 2024 season begins on Saturday, May 14 against the Phoenix Mercury at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.
