LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – 116 citations were handed out from a span of multiple violations at a Henderson intersection by two police departments in the Las Vegas valley.
Nevada State Police and the Henderson Police Department conducted a comprehensive traffic saturation event Wednesday, April 17 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The focus of the event was on drivers running red lights at the intersection of Green Valley Parkway and the 215 beltway. Police say this intersection was identified as a “high risk” because over 14,000 motorists ran red lights at that intersection during the month of February. That was according to the Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation data.
Police said they made 77 red light citations; 12 speeding; 7 DL violations; 2 failure to yield; 2 citations for no insurance; and 16 other violations. This totals to 116
Police say the goal of this effort was to help improve compliance with traffic laws while contributing to a reduction in traffic crashes and fatalities associated with “reckless behavior.”
