LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The former Clark County School District employee accused of installing a recording device in a classroom last month has pleaded not guilty.
44-year-old Haroon Zakai was arrested on March 20 at Gwendolyn Woolley Elementary School after a teacher found an audio recording device in her classroom. Zakai told the teacher, then later police, that he planted the device to record student conversations for his artificial intelligence business.
According to an arrest report obtained by FOX5, Zakai claimed his business would help “stop bullying.”
Zakai faces several charges in this case, including a felony charge for monitoring private conversations.
He is due back in court in June.
