LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Weapon detectors could be one step closer to reality in the Clark County School District.

A technology company announced Tuesday that the Clark County School District awarded themselves and two other companies a $5 million weapons detection contract. FOX 5 reached out to CCSD for more information and has not heard back, but was able to confirm the contract through board documents.

Data shows hundreds of weapons have been confiscated from Clark County Schools this year. So far in the 2023 to ‘24 school year, 285 weapons have been confiscated by CCSD police.

According to the announcement, the contract is with Remark Holdings, Alliance Technology Group, and Mcintosh Communications.

Documents confirm Evolv Technology is a manufacturer for Alliance Technology Group. Evolv weapons detection systems are used throughout the country, including in Baltimore and Nashville.

According to FOX 5′s sister station in Nashville, WSMV, the detectors use AI technology to allow people to walk through them in real time without slowing down.

FOX 5 reached out to all of the companies involved in the contract for more information.
