LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nellis Air Force Base tells FOX5 that drinking water on base is now safe to drink after a health advisory was issued yesterday.
A Boil Water Advisory was initially issued Tuesday morning, after an equipment malfunction that may have potentially affected the water system’s chlorine disinfectant distribution system. A spokesperson for Nellis AFB told FOX5 that the base’s civil engineers immediately began work to repair the system.
Officials say that the advisory was issued for personnel in a specific portion of the base, which did not include residential housing, “out of an abundance of caution.” The advisory recommended that those within the affected area boil water for one minute before drinking or using bottled water until the issue was resolved.
The advisory was rescinded the same day around 5 p.m. after engineers sampled and deemed the water safe to drink.
