LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A K9 with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is back in training after he was stabbed in the downtown area late March.

The stabbing happened on Friday, March 29 around 1:08 p.m. in the 1200 block of S. Las Vegas Boulevard. Police said K9 Enzo was stabbed about 8-9 times by suspect Thurman Lowe, 64.

Police initially responded to the incident with firefighters in reports of a fire that then turned into a barricade.

Police gave an update later that Enzo was expected to live and has since been in recovery.

Thursday night, Las Vegas police said Enzo is now participating in low impact training.

“We are happy to say K9 Enzo is doing well,” police said.

“We are thankful for your support and we hope to share more about his journey back to work soon,” police said.
