LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – In order to determine the best states in which to pursue a law-enforcement career, the consumer finance website WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 30 key metrics, and the Silver State checked in near the bottom.
Data sets range from the median income for law-enforcement officers to police deaths per 1,000 officers to state and local spending on police. Overall, Nevada checked in at 49 out of 51.
Nevada’s law enforcement training requirements were ranked 48th in the nation. Job hazards and protections were named 42nd.
The top three states overall were California, Illinois, and Connecticut. The only states trailing Nevada were Hawaii (50th) and Alaska (51st).
