LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas small business has come up with a creative way to get the attention of tens of thousands of people throughout the Las Vegas Valley: give away cash.

It says the marketing strategy has gone viral and brought in new customers. Only FOX5 talked to the owner of Sticky Inky (Here is a link to their social accounts https://linktr.ee/stickyinky) about the surprise scavenger hunts.

The viral videos giving away money all start the same. You see a hand attaching a sticker to a mystery spot somewhere in the Vegas Valley, on the back there is a $100 bill stuck on. Then the camera pans up to reveal a big clue to the location.

Now tens of thousands of people in the Vegas Valley are watching to see where one will pop up next. The @StickyInkyLV Instagram account has quickly racked up 40,000 followers.

“We didn’t know it was going to blow up and take off how is it now,” shared Roycen Shepherd, owner of Sticky Inky, a printing business that makes things like stickers and decals. They are now getting about 10,000 new followers a week.

“Obviously social media is big nowadays,” Shepherd explained. Shepherd was scrolling social media and saw a business in Europe hiding cash for people to find. Now he has adapted the idea and left $100 bills behind a sticker with the company’s octopus mascot throughout the Vegas Valley, everywhere from Chinatown, to a park in Summerlin, to Water Street in Downtown Henderson and made videos with the hashtag #FindSticky.

“One of our first videos that we dropped it took literally less than 20 minutes to get found,” Shepherd recounted. Now that’s down to about eight minutes.

“Seeing their reactions, it kind makes us feel cool makes us feel good about it,” Shepherd revealed. For the small business that only started a year ago, the scavenger hunt videos have gotten their name out there and brought in sales.

“We had a couple customers come in today… and literally put in some orders with us. They came in and said, ‘Hey we love your videos… we want to kind of give back and support you guys,’” Shepherd reported.
