LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – An 18-year-old skateboarder has died nearly two weeks after a crash involving a pickup truck in the northwest valley.
On Monday, the Clark County Coroner notified the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that 18-year-old Malachi Green had died from his injuries at UMC.
Officers initially responded to the crash at Deer Springs Way, east of Durango Drive, around 5:04 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15. Green was located by officers at the scene and transported to UMC Trauma with life-threatening injuries.
An investigation would reveal that Green was riding a skateboard across Deer Springs Way outside a marked crosswalk in heavy traffic, while a 1997 GMC Sierra pickup truck was approaching.
The two collided when Green entered the road and was struck by the truck.
The pickup truck’s driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to police.
“The pedestrian’s death marked the 72nd traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction in 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release.
