LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – There is some encouraging news when it comes to the safety of families in the Las Vegas Valley.

Figures from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department show an overall drop in robberies of 16 percent in Metro’s jurisdiction in year-to-date numbers from 2024 compared to 2023.

Robberies in the Northwest Area Command are down 19 percent, down just over 24 percent. The crime is down more than 28 percent in the Downtown Area Command. And robberies are down nearly 25 percent in the Southeast Area Command.

The biggest drop in robberies came in the Convention Center Area Command, down more than 41 percent, according to Metro Police figures. They are down 20 percent in the Enterprise Area Command. Robberies are down about eight percent in the Summerlin Area Command. The crime is down nine percent in the Spring Valley Area Command.

LVMPD figures show robberies increased in two area commands. They were up 14 percent in the South Central Area Command and up more than seven percent in the Bolden Area Command.

Metro Police tell FOX5 numbers can vary from moment to moment and didn’t elaborate on what may or may not be working.
