LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A limited presence of Legionella bacteria has been discovered at a Federal courthouse in Las Vegas.
Mary Simms, the Region 9 Regional Public Affairs Officer, confirmed that baseline testing confirmed the presence of the bacteria at the Lloyd D. George Courthouse. She referred FOX5 to this excerpt from a Jan. 31 blog post:
Simms said that water in the building is safe, “based on expert guidance.” She added that GSA has provided bottled water “out of an abundance of caution.”
“This is a temporary measure until the corrective actions are taken and the units are retested and results are received,” she noted.
GSA will continue with testing and is currently working with a water quality management strategy to implement additional measures in the building. Faucets in building restrooms can continue to be used for hand-washing.
GSA said it is also proactively working on a long-term water management plan for the building.
