LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Debate continues among advocacy groups and neighbors surrounding the future of a planned development of thousands of homes on Blue Diamond Hill, despite a recent agreement from Clark County to allow the Gypsum Resources project to proceed.
The group Save Red Rock tells FOX5 it is exploring legal options to stop the project. It posted the following statement on its website:
“This is one battle in an ongoing war, and we are ready to continue the fight. We must stay vigilant on all levels: county, state, and federal. We are consulting with experts in the legal and conservation fields to consider our next steps. We will keep you informed every step of the way.”
Clark County agreed to an $80 million settlement agreement with Gypsum Resources, reducing the homes to 3,500 from the previously approved 5,026. It’s also said to divert traffic from Scenic Route 159 to Route 160.
Residents plan to attend a meeting Wednesday for the development agreement, the next steps to allow the project to proceed.
