Over 110-degree weather expected for Fourth of July

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The hottest 4th of July in more than 10 years is on the way.

Dry air is locked in place with plenty of sunshine throughout the holiday weekend. We’ll start Independence Day with temperatures in the 80s and 90s Thursday morning. By lunchtime, we’ll be in the triple-digits with a forecast high in Las Vegas at 112° later in the afternoon. This is only a few degrees shy of the July 4th record-high temperature of 115°.

Sunset will be at 8:01 p.m. with most of the fireworks shows in the Las Vegas Valley starting around 9 p.m. Temperatures will be in the 100° to 105° range for the fireworks with light wind around the valley.

Clark County’s Division of Air Quality is issuing a Smoke Advisory from Thursday, July 4th through Sunday, July 7th for elevated levels of smoke due to the fireworks. With wind speeds staying below 20 mph through most of the holiday weekend, higher levels of pollution will be possible.

The heat will also stay with us with high temperatures holding around 115° Friday through Sunday.
