LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – For nearly a year, the Clark County School District has been without a leader. Former Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara stepped down last February after he was asked by the school board to resign. Wednesday night, the CCSD Board of Trustees (with four newly elected members of seven) heard from the search firm selected to help with the process. During a presentation, they walked them through all the work they’ve done since being hired last summer to help select the next superintendent.

Since last summer, search firm HYA Associates has led community forums, focus groups, and a community-wide survey with more than 14,000 responses asking people what they wanted in the next superintendent. Anyone who wants to be the next superintendent had to submit their application by Wednesday night.

In the next two weeks, candidates will be selected. Interviews will be public. The first round will be February 24th and 25th. The second round with semi-finalists will be March 10th and 11th. According to the search firm, they then hope to help the CCSD Trustees have a superintendent selected by the end of next month and will assist them with their transition.
