LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Airbnb is joining in on a federal lawsuit against Clark County regarding short-term rentals.
FOX5 first reported about the injunction filed by the greater Las Vegas short-term rental association.
It asked a judge to halt enforcement against unlicensed homes listed on platforms like Airbnb and VRBO. Fines could range from $1,000 to $10,000 a day.
In February, the county added a new measure which said unpaid fines can be placed as a lien on the property.
They say if fines are not paid, the county may be able to seize the property.
Homeowners have questions whether that’s legal and constitutional.
Airbnb sent FOX5 a statement,” despite efforts to work with the county to ensure everyday Nevadans can exercise their right to responsibly share their homes and earn extra income, Clark County officials have refused to engage.“
FOX5 reached out to Clark County for comment. In response, the county said they are not able to comment on pending litigation.
