LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Animal Foundation reported that it urgently needs at least 50 dogs to go into temporary foster homes to make more space in the shelter.

The shelter is open on May 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for anyone who wants to pick up a foster dog.

“We are out of space to house any more dogs on our campus, and we are facing some very difficult decisions to ensure the well-being of our animals and team. This is our heartbreaking reality, but we just don’t have room for the new animals that are coming in every day.”

Team members and volunteers will be ready to assist you at 655 North Mojave Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89110. They are asking patrons to foster a medium or large-sized dog for at least two to four weeks. To expedite the process, everyone is encouraged to fill out a foster application before arriving at the shelter.

“Shelters across the country are facing very difficult times right now, and we are no exception,” the foundation wrote on its website. “We currently have 747 animals in our care, and over the last week, we have taken in 558 animals. If you can’t foster, please share this information in hopes that it will reach someone who can.”

To help free up space, the shelter is also waiving adoption fees on May 17 for all adoptable dogs in the shelter. You can view all available and adoptable dogs here:
