LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Three animals have been reunited and are now recovering at an animal hospital in Henderson after all being injured during a fiery crash on Interstate 15 earlier this week.
On Nov. 8, a semi-truck overturned and caught fire colliding with a motorhome with two dogs and a turtle inside.
Rescue group Paws Patrol LV stepped up to start taking care of the animals. One dog they called Miracle had burns on her face, body, and paws. They later learned her name is Chloe.
Wednesday afternoon, Chole was reunited with the other pets at Horizon Ridge Animal Hospital in Henderson. Her tail waged with excitement when she was reunited with Jim the Pomeranian.
Jim also suffered burns on his hind limbs. The turtle, which also suffered injuries, was placed in the same play space.
Chloe was rescued about two miles from the scene of the crash by a good Samaritan.
“As you can see her front paws are bandaged and her front paws were pretty burnt…I don’t know if that was from the actual fire or from her running or a combination of both. You could tell that her whiskers were singed, she had some burns and lacerations around her face,” shared Maressa Larimer, a veterinarian with Horizon Ridge Animal Hospital.
In addition to the emergency medical care, the team at Horizon Ridge also is making sure Chole is getting a lot of TLC.
“Just giving her lots of love. The staff here is loving on her left and right. She is a very, very sweet dog,” Larimer revealed.
Thursday, the owner of the animals who was hospitalized after the crash will be reunited with them. The vets hope Chole will be off her fluids by then and ready to go home.
Paws Patrol LV has recently helped several dogs including Reba the bulldog found dumped behind a grocery store, trapped in a sealed bin.
