RENO, Nev. (FOX5) – A 47-year-old has been arrested for a homicide that happened in Henderson over two decades ago, the Henderson Police Department said.

Police said the homicide happened on Sept. 4, 2003 around 2:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Gold Street. Investigators revealed that a woman died inside of a residence from sharp force trauma.

Investigators ruled the incident as a homicide. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Theresa Romano. The case has been open for the past 21 years.

With DNA testing and the expansion of the HPD Cold Case Unit, the suspect was identified as 47-yare-old Ricky Lee Trader. On July 16, detectives took Trader into custody in the Reno area. He was booked into the Washoe County Detention Center and extradited Monday.

Trader faces one count of open murder.
