LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Athletics and Miracle Flights lit seven giant holiday signs in Downtown Summerlin on Thursday as part of the team’s “Lights for Flights” event, organizers said.

The signs, illuminated in the team’s green and gold, each feature inspirational words tied to Miracle Flights’ mission, including “love,” “joy” and “miracle.” The team’s mascot, Stomper, made a special appearance at the ceremony.

Miracle Flights is a nonprofit that provides free commercial flights to families of children who need specialized medical care outside their home communities. Officials said the seven light installations were intended to spotlight the organization’s work and to support children and families who require life-changing medical travel.

“As the Athletics settle into Las Vegas, we want to be a constant source of support for children, families, and nonprofits that really anchor this region,” an Athletics representative said. “They shine in our team colors, but most importantly, they shine for children who need a helping hand and every parent that refuses to give up,” the official added.

Event organizers also offered a family holiday treasure hunt for attendees. The first 125 people who signed up for the event were eligible to participate, organizers said.
