LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Officials from the Nye County Sheriff’s Office said investigators are searching for four individuals involved in a homicide over the Fourth of July weekend.
According to law enforcement officials, at around 10 p.m. on July 5, the suspects fired shots into a crowd during “Movies in the Park” screening of The Wizard of Oz at Ian Deutch Memorial Park in Pahrump, killing one person. Officials reported that dozens of people, including small children, were present in the park.
Officials said a fight involving “50 juveniles” broke out, before investigators believe the suspects fled in a red Chevy Camaro, which has since been located. A witness heard what she described as automatic gunfire before the Camaro sped off.
The victim, identified as Joe Perry, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was shot four times: once in his neck and three times to his back, officials said.
Authorities initially identified four individuals in the investigation: Anthony Aguilar, 18; Carlos Blakey, 18; Brandon Port, 18; and Fabian Ferrante, 19.
A witness told authorities that Blakely commonly carries firearms, including “an illegal fully-automatic Glock.” Since the release, officials said Port has been located and interviewed, and was determined not to have been involved in the fatal shooting. The remaining suspects are still outstanding, investigators said.
The U.S. Marshals Service is assisting with the search for the suspect. Anyone with information, or video and photos of the incident, should send that evidence to [email protected], officials said.
Officials ask anyone with information to call the Nye County Sheriff’s Office at 775-751-7000, option 5. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or via the organization’s website. A cash reward may be available.
In a release Monday morning, officials from the town of Pahrump said that due to the shooting and “out of an abundance of caution,” the recurring Movies in the Park event would be suspended until further notice.
