Autonomous driving company set to expand to Las Vegas in 2026

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Autonomous driving company Waymo announced on Monday that its robotaxi service will be available in Las Vegas in 2026.

The company, whose service is already available in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Atlanta and Austin, has accumulated 100 million autonomous miles and 10 million trips, according to the news release from Waymo. Officials said the service’s safety record demonstrates it is “safer than human drivers.”

“Las Vegas has a proud, proven history of setting global standards for unforgettable experiences and forward-thinking innovation,” said Shelley Berkley, mayor of Las Vegas. “The introduction of Waymo and its autonomous driving technology is not a science experiment, but rather a proven, safe, new alternative designed to help our residents and the millions of visitors who come to our city get around—from the Strip and beyond.”

The release stated that Waymo would introduce fifth-generation Waymo driver-powered Jaguar I-PACE vehicles and Zeekr RT vehicles, featuring the company’s sixth-generation Waymo driver in Las Vegas.

Waymo is expected to begin driving in Las Vegas in summer 2026.
