LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man who faces DUI-related charges after a deadly southwest Las Vegas crash now faces a higher bail.

Metro Police said Daniel Stakleff, 38, drove a Volkswagen on Tuesday, May 6 at Warm Springs Road and Mann Street. That afternoon, investigators say a Tesla recorded him leaving the roadway and driving on a sidewalk where he hit 23-year-old Joree Odabi.

Odabi died at the scene. According to an arrest report, officers found an empty marijuana vape pen and cartridge in Stakleff’s car.

Exactly a week after the crash, Stakleff was released on bond with a $5,000 bail. The court ordered him to stay away from drugs, alcohol and driving.

FOX5 learned Tuesday his bail has been increased to $50,000, along with a $50,000 surety bond, after initial backlash from the community about his bail amount.

Court records say he has been in compliance with electronic monitoring.
