LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Vegas Indoor Skydiving will close its doors permanently on Jan. 25 this year.
Owner and operator Keith Field confirmed the news to FOX5 Monday morning. Fields says he’s grateful to the guests and staff members who made the attraction a part of Las Vegas history.
“Our motto has always been ‘Share The Love,’ and it has guided everything we do,” Fields said. “From the more than 1 million people we’ve taught to fly to the amazing team members who became family, this has been an extraordinary ride. Thank you all for being part of it.”
Vegas Indoor Skydiving first opened in 1982 as Flyaway Indoor Skydiving. It’s known as the first vertical wind tunnel in the United States, the facility says.
Over four decades, the facility served 1 million flyers that included two-year-olds to people over 100.
The Clark County Building Department says it was the longest-running attraction installed in Las Vegas.
Vegas Indoor Skydiving says it’s inviting the public to experience its wind tunnel one last time on Jan. 25.
“Although it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we’re proud of the joy, laughter, and adventure we’ve brought to so many lives. Thank you for helping us make history,” Fields said.
FOX5 is looking into what’s next for the area once the location closes.
