LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A bill that could lower egg prices across the state of Nevada on Wednesday took another step closer to Governor Joe Lombardo’s desk.

AB 171 allows the state agriculture director to suspend the state’s cage-free egg requirement temporarily, and seek alternative sources with much lower prices.

Bird flu has hit cage-free chickens particularly hard, causing egg prices to skyrocket while supplies plunged.

The measure will return to the Assembly for a full vote on Thursday. If it passes, it then heads to Gov. Lombardo for his signature.
