ELY, Nev. (KOLO) – The Bureau of Land Management has approved a gather of wild horses for an area of eastern Nevada.

The Pancake Complex Wild Horse gather will be for wild horses in an area near Ely that also includes the Jakes Wash Herd Area, the Monte Cristo Wild Horse Territory, and the Pancake and Sand Springs West Herd Management Areas.

In total, BLM will be gathering from an area of nearly 1.2 million acres.

“This decision will help to ensure that we maintain a healthy wild horse population at the established appropriate management level of 336-638 wild horses within the Pancake Complex,” said Bristlecone Field Manager Melanie Peterson.
