LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — On July 15, 1958, Bonanza Airlines broke ground on its new Las Vegas hub.

The company started as a charter service in 1946, offering flights between Las Vegas and Reno.

Three years later, it added regular daily flights between Phoenix and Reno, eventually expanding to major cities up and down the West Coast.

A merger changed Bonanza to Hughes Airwest in the 70s, and it went out of business in the early 80s.
