LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Brightline West announced their production facility will be built in New York.

America’s first high-speed rail production facility will be located in Horseheads. It’s located in the southern tier of New York.

Brightline says the site is about a $60 million investment by Siemens Mobility and will span about 3000K square feet. Officials say it will create about 300 jobs in the community.

Brightline would open positions for electro-mechanical assemblers, quality management, quality control, industrial production and test engineers, project management, supply chain management and logistics employees.

“We’ve said from the start that Brightline West will plant the flag for high-speed rail in America and will lay the foundation for a new industry with unimaginable economic benefits. Today’s announcement that jobs are being created thousands of miles away from the rail line is just the starting point,” said Michael Reininger CEO of Brightline. “For the first time ever in the U.S., we will be manufacturing trains that will compete with the best in the world. Reaching speeds of over 200 mph, these trains will be marked by the latest innovations designed for the modern traveler and establishing a new benchmark in transportation.”

The high-speed rail is set between Southern California and Las Vegas. Nevada Congresswoman Dina Titus released a statement following this contract.

“I helped write the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and secured federal funding for the Brightline West high-speed rail project which will reduce carbon emissions and generate millions in tax revenue for Southern Nevada. In addition, this project will create hundreds of good-paying union jobs across the country. These include jobs manufacturing trains and jobs maintaining them by more than 100 union members in Southern Nevada. I look forward to Brightline West’s progress as we continue to welcome high-speed passenger rail to our region.”
