LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The dog named Seven, found brutally abused in Boulder City, is recovering. BCPD suspects abuse happened in Arizona.

Boulder City Animal Control responded on Aug. 19 to reports of an abandoned and injured 10-week-old puppy.

According to police, Seven was found in an alleyway and was transported to the Boulder City Animal Hospital.

Medical professionals treated the pup for a dislocated jaw, missing teeth, eye, and facial reconstruction. Hospital employees report the dog had two surgeries, and his eye was removed.

Animal Control employees have nicknamed the male rottweiler “Seven” while he continues to receive treatment in their care. They expect five to six weeks of recovery with the support of a feeding tube.

The investigation conducted by the Boulder City Police Department found the dog’s injuries determined the felony animal cruelty case occurred in Mohave County, AZ.

“The Detectives of the Boulder City Police Department and Animal Control Officers are thankful for the outpouring of support from the community,” said Boulder City Police Department Lieutenant Thomas Healing. “Our officers have handed over reports and findings to our colleagues in Mohave County, where the investigation continues at this time. We urge anyone with information to contact the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office as soon as possible.”

BCPD shared that generous, concerned community members have covered Seven’s medical bills.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office will now investigate the case.

“We have not yet found any solid evidence that the crime occurred in our jurisdiction. This investigation is ongoing,” explained Anita Mortensen, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer.
