LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV swimming junior Erika Carlson has been named the Raising Cane’s Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Thursday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
Carlson, a native of Seattle, Washington, earned six individual wins and went undefeated in UNLV‘s dual meet split against Utah and BYU. In a road win against the Cougars, she picked up three victories in the 200 free (1:48.86), 100 free (50.30) and in the 200 IM (2:02.05). Adding to her impressive weekend, Carlson won another three events in the 200 free (1:51.18), 100 free (51.47) and in the 500 free (4:58.75) against the Utes.
Additionally, Carlson was the anchor leg of a 400 free relay victory (3:22.35) against the Cougars. Along with that, she swam the third leg for the Rebels’ 200 free relay team that posted a second-place time of 1:33.54 against the Utes.
