LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Clark County School District confirmed a potential budget deficit, citing ‘unanticipated spending.’
According to the district, litigation and cyber security expenses have increased demand from the budget.
Typically, the scheduled accounting year-end close-out cycle process takes place through mid-October.
The district shared that the “possible deficit” has not impacted the fall school budget, but school leaders were notified.

In the release shared, the district claimed to assume responsibility.
Officials explained that changes were communicated with principals in January 2024 and corrected in the fall 2024 budget.
This includes the teacher and employee increase of $5,700.
District leaders said as-risk funds were also calculated and corrected.
“Our commitment to transparently serving and supporting schools led us to work with principals throughout the process,” CCSD expressed.

CCSD explained they will notify employees, families, and community members if a budget deficit is confirmed as the cycle concludes.
Despite the district stating all corrections have been made.
FOX5 has reported on teachers who claim that due to budget concerns, they have been let go, and others are cutting back on printing homework.
