LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Clark County School District has selected four final candidates in its search for the next superintendent.

The district is working to select a permanent successor for former superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara.

During their meeting Tuesday night, the CCSD Board of Trustees started with six initial candidates. They discussed each one and voted to remove and add people to the list.

The trustees voted to remove three candidates and added one to the running — Dr. Jesse Welsh.

Welsh joins Jhone Ebert, John Anzalone and Ben Shuldiner as the final four candidates for the next CCSD superintendent.

“Our next leader must inspire us to do our best while also giving us hope that things will get better. We haven’t had hope in a long time,” said a community member speaking during public comment at the meeting.

The Board of Trustees will interview the final four candidates Feb. 24 and 25.

Then, on March 10th and 11th, the finalists will be interviewed again by the trustees and in community forums with parents and students.

The board is expected to announce its selection on March 13th.
